Marshfield Area Friends of the Trails

Minutes of the meeting of June 3, 2009, at the Senior Center at 7 p.m. recorded by Sandy Egstad

Attending: Greg Hesch; LeRoy Egstad; Dan Lewis; Kent Mueller; Deb Englehart; Gordy Adler; Mike Meyer; John Scheuer; Sandy Egstad

President Greg Hesch called meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

LeRoy E. moved and Deb E. seconded to approve the minutes of May 6, 2009. Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report
Presented by Kent Mueller. Total bank accounts: $24,863.19; Liability accounts for restricted donations for signs, Weber Park and Washington School Trail: $200.00, $101.95 and $9630.50 respectively for a total Liability accounts of $9,932.45, for an overall balance of $ 14,930.74 as of May 31, 2009. Approval moved by Dan L. and LeRoy E.; report approved.

Administrative Report


Events Discussed

The Breast Cancer Ride will be October 10.

Trails Update/Trail Report
There will be a possible workday for the Wildwood Station Trail. It would be for Buckthorn control. The date will be set and published.

The dedication of the Weber Park shelter will be coming soon.

Updates

T-shirts will be ordered as well as other shirts and caps. They will be yellow.

The recent plant sale for the Washington School Trail raised almost $2000. The trail should be going in this summer.

Progress is being made on the web site for MAFOTT. Greg and Sandy have been meeting with and having email contact with Chuck Treankler whose class at Senior High has been working on the site. The site should be up soon.


A thank you will be sent to S&S Distributing who printed signs for us saying “Friends of the Trails At Work.” Mike Meyer contributed wire legs for them.

We congratulate Stratford on receiving a DNR grant for a trail in their city. They are having a fund raising campaign in order to match the funds for the grant.

We also briefly discussed the proposal for a trail/outdoor classroom near the Tiny Tiger Center.

LeRoy E. moved and Deb E. seconded that funds not be contributed by MAFOTT to these activities at this time. We should concentrate on trails within the city for now. Motion unanimously passed.

Other Business

New brochures will be developed and printed since we are running low.

Ed E. Greg H. and Dan U. gave a presentation about the trails to the Marshfield Visitors and Convention Bureau Tourism Banquet.

Using the trail s of our city was second only to the Wildwood Zoo as a favorite activity for families in Marshfield as reported by “The Best of Marshfield” survey.

John Scheuer will be attending the Highway 10 update meeting on June 9.


Deb E. moved to adjourn, Dan L. seconded the motion; the motion passed.
